Why is our EDP team the next step for you?
The Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) is an innovative use of “Big Data” technologies to provide powerful analytic capabilities for Worldpay. EDP currently uses two Hadoop clusters in a HA and DR configuration with an expansion plan too many hundred nodes; based on the Hortonworks Data Platform and AWS for cloud expansion.
How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
A Solution Architect is required to take a lead in the infrastructure architecture, design and implementation of key Big Data based strategic products.
Influence the strategic architecture and a wide spectrum of project/operational stakeholders and be responsible for technology design decisions which have major and far-reaching impact on the implementation of technology in the company, on projects and the IT delivery. This will include hands-on development/delivery of frameworks and key software components to sweat the data asset as it is ‘lived’
Provide infrastructure design leadership and be accountable for the technology design of one, or more:
- major business product segments
- significant technology domains
Work closely with the Worldpay development teams to ensure that the infrastructure designs are understood and successfully realised to support the developed applications. Liaise and interface with wider Worldpay infrastructure architects and designers. Ensure that EDP solutions implement and operate within the technology governance.
What will make you the ideal candidate?
Infrastructure or Solutions architecture with multi-terabyte Hadoop or other big data production solution; or within an environment that can be demonstrated as requiring similar solutions. Additional minimum of at least two of:
- Physical infrastructure architecture
- Solutions architecture
- Logical or applications architecture
Strong understanding of system architecture and general programming concepts and best practice and ability to lead solutions within these. Strong understanding and practical experience of designing secure production environments based on Kerberos and Active Directory environment. The ability, willingness and discipline to create and maintain concise, accurate, readable, relevant documentation on our wiki (we use Confluence) and ticketing system (we use Jira).
Ability to manoeuvre in hybrid environments where core activities are done in agile and some surrounding activities (backlog grooming infra builds, PMO, operation testing, etc) remain ‘classic’
